What attracted you to participate in Operation Pacific Waves?
Iridium has demonstrated their superior ability to host large-scale demonstrations and exercises that put the spotlight on their partners’ solutions and unique capabilities. The magnitude of the Indo-Pacific Area Of Responsibility (AOR) welcomed the opportunity to demonstrate through Operation Pacific Waves (OPW) how Somewear Labs is seamlessly enabling collaboration and communication between U.S. and coalition forces anywhere in the world.
Can you tell us more about the products you demonstrated on this expedition? How does your technology work, and what communications threads were you most eager to experience?
Somewear Labs is a satellite-powered Command and Control (C2), and communications solution that enables U.S. military and coalition forces to communicate, coordinate, and operate together more rapidly than their adversaries. Somewear delivers a robust and resilient primary, alternate, contingency, and emergency (PACE) plan with autonomous failover capabilities to ensure all mission-critical data is transmitted to the right people at the right time in any environment.
Somewear is the only Iridium Short Burst Data® (SBD®) solution fully integrated with the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK), providing bidirectional communications and a command and control solution with global coverage. Through the Somewear web and mobile applications and our proven integrations (e.g. ATAK, sensors, etc.), Somewear’s dynamic tactical network ensures operators in the field have the same level of situational awareness as C2.
